On the Road to Arizona...

Jamie and I went back and forth a lot this summer on what we should do for our family vacation. We really wanted to take the girls to see the Grand Canyon but kept wondering if it would just be too hot. Then we found an awesome resort in Phoenix (at a great price to boot!), so we bit the bullet and planned our trip!

45 minutes down...5 hours to go!
Notice how lightly we packed...amazing for our family...we can still see out the back window!

What we have to look forward to. Oh my!
(I'm behind on my blogging again...and it ended up being 115 degrees almost every day.)

We have arrived! In Arizona, at least.

A stop for dinner.

And we finally made it to Arizona Grand Resort!
As soon as we got into our room, the girls stripped down and put their bathing suits on.
We had a little time before the water park closed so the girls got to swim around a bit. Our room was in the perfect location...on the top level so we had vaulted ceilings, just several doors down from the elevator, and then the water park entrance was right in front of our elevator!

We capped off our night with a trip to Walmart to find some umbrellas to escape the hot sun for the pool tomorrow. We found the store packed with kids getting ready for the first day of the school the next day. We couldn't have planned our trip at a better time. Something to remember for future vacations.

We also stopped for some ice cream (which melted WAY too fast) and enjoyed the lightning storms outside. We definitely looked like tourists Ooohing and Ahhing every time lightning struck. The lightning was quite impressive and a great way to finish off our first day of traveling!
